Attention, citizens of Autumngrove and loyal subjects of the Druecian Empire.

The past fortnight has brought both triumph and tragedy to our Empire. Two weeks ago, the Kingdom of Albia announced the beginning of its Horizon Pact, dispatching hundreds of explorers to the southern continent in a grand effort to uncover its mysteries. Early reports spoke of marvels such as the shining city of Moonspire, the Gemstone Mountains, and uncharted lands rich with promise. Spirits across the realm soared with hope.

It is with a heavy heart that we must confirm those hopes have been dashed. A group of adventurers recently sent out to cotninue south breaking through the Gemstone Mountain border by crossing through the Cursed Veil. It is with a heavy heart we report that every adventurer sent south through the Cursed Vale has perished. We advise extreme caution for any planning to head towards or near the area.

Our intelligence also confirms that the vile forces of the Ashen Maw descended upon Moonspire. Scouts from Autumngrove were dispatched in haste to deliver warning, but they arrived too late. The once-great city of Moonspire has been wiped from the map, its towers reduced to dust, its people lost to darkness. We are not sure how they were able to bring such a city to complete ruin in such a short time, but it reminds us to stay vigilant against such vile powers.

In taverns, markets, and halls across Druecia, the people now speak of the southern continent by another name, The Dark Continent. What was once a beacon of discovery has become a graveyard for the brave.
In the wake of this catastrophe, questions rise. The Novstran University faces mounting scrutiny after sending scholars southward on what was termed a “scholarly expedition.” Four of its members have already been confirmed dead. Sources within the capital suggest that the King of Novstra may recall all remaining students as early as tomorrow.

As for Albia, despite mounting public concern, their council has issued a statement urging all adventurers to press onward in defiance of fear. Whether courage or folly guides them, time alone will tell.

In these dark days, there is at least one glimmer of relief. The rising tensions between Paw-Mera and our colonial holdings have, for now, subsided. Let us hope that the peace holds, and that the fires of war remain cold.

Citizens of Druecia, remain steadfast. The Queen’s gaze watches over all, and her will guides us through shadow and uncertainty. Trust in the Crown, and trust in Autumngrove.
