Ruins of Old Windmere
Outside the great walls of Windmere lies the charred ruins of Old Windmere, the town that once shared the kingdom’s name. Centuries ago, a devastating fire swept through the town, killing nearly the entire Windmere bloodline—save for Darwin Windmere, the sole survivor. To this day, no one knows how the fire started or why it consumed the town so completely.
After the tragedy, the Windmere family abandoned the ruined town and built the kingdom’s new walls further inward, leaving Old Windmere as a haunting reminder of their near downfall. Many believe the ruins symbolize the Windmere family’s darkest moment—a sign of vulnerability that the ruling family would rather forget.
Those who visit the ruins speak of strange voices echoing through the crumbling streets, whispering to them from the shadows. Some claim the voices are the restless spirits of those who perished in the fire. Over the years, the ruins have become a magnet for mythical creatures. In recent times, giant spiders have infested the area, weaving massive webs through the skeletal remains of buildings. This infestation has made Old Windmere far more dangerous to explore—though the mysterious pull of the town continues to draw in curious and reckless adventurers alike.
