Thaldia is another major city in the Kingdom of Almera, though much smaller than the capital, Thaldorra. Despite its size, Thaldia plays a vital role in the kingdom’s economy, producing the majority of its food. The fertile lands surrounding the city, particularly along the rivers, are home to expansive farms that sustain the kingdom. Thaldia was originally founded as a territorial claim to this resource-rich region.
Unlike Thaldorra, Thaldia is more accessible and less restrictive, though it is often overlooked in political decisions made by the ruling council. Many residents of Thaldia feel as though their city serves as a “dumping ground” for issues that Thaldorra would rather avoid.
In recent years, the city has struggled with overpopulation, as many refugees fleeing from Druecia have been placed here or in the surrounding areas. Thaldia’s people are deeply supportive of their fellow elves and magic users in danger, but they simply cannot accommodate the growing influx of refugees.
As a result, civil unrest has reached an all-time high. The citizens fear that the escalating tensions between Almera and the kingdoms of Druecia will lead to war, which would only prolong their suffering. Thaldia stands at a crossroads: they support the elves fleeing Neathshara in Druecia, yet they are desperate to avoid war at any cost. It is an incredibly difficult time for the city, as they try to balance compassion with the dire realities of overpopulation and political instability.
