Thaldorra is an ancient city, originally two separate cities—Thal and Dorra—on either side of a vast canal. According to legend, a Fey god would part the waters between the cities, allowing the people to unite. Over time, a great bridge was constructed across the canal, merging the cities into Thaldorra, a name that symbolizes the coming together of both.
As the capital of Almera, Thaldorra stands as a symbol of immense wealth, largely derived from its strategic control of global trade routes and the canal. The city heavily taxes both trade and passage through these waters, making it a thriving hub of commerce.
REDACTED - The city is governed by a council of powerful elven noble families, each vying for influence and control. Despite its strong cultural roots, Thaldorra has had to adapt to the changing world, striving to balance progress with a deep connection to the gods, the natural world, and magic.
Thaldorra is home to one of the world’s largest armies and navies, with outposts scattered across distant lands. However, the city often finds itself at odds with the major powers of Druecia, especially since many magical beings and elves have sought refuge there in recent years.
Although Thaldorra presents itself as a sanctuary for those in need, they have a strict policy of not admitting refugees directly into the city. Instead, they leave these displaced people in smaller towns within the region, where the noble families are scrambling to find suitable accommodations. Despite their best efforts to maintain a sense of humanity, the nobles are struggling to manage the growing refugee crisis without compromising their authority and resources.
