The Outlands are a stretch of land enclosed by the southern walls of the Kingdom of Almera, the natural mountains surrounding the Ember Woods, and the northern walls of the Windmere Kingdom. The region is mostly covered in dense forest, with a few small coastal towns scattered along the shores. These towns are hubs for markets and traders hoping to profit from explorers landing on the continent of Nyvara.
The Outlands are a common landing point for explorers since there are no restrictions on airship or boat landings, making it an ideal entry point for adventurers and opportunists alike. The region is essentially lawless—there’s no organized government or enforcement. The towns are teeming with bandits, thieves, and shady merchants peddling snake oil to unsuspecting travelers.
Despite its chaotic nature, the Outlands have become a melting pot of cultures and backgrounds. Its population includes refugees escaping from troubled homelands, merchants seeking fortune, colonists from Druecia, and loyal missionaries trying to spread their beliefs. The neighboring kingdoms have shown little interest in claiming the Outlands, as the land is poor and difficult to control. Previous attempts to establish order have been met with fierce resistance from the locals, who value their independence and lawlessness.
