A turning point came when the township belonging to the Windmere family was completely destroyed by fire, leaving only Darwin Windmere as the sole survivor. Fierce and calculating, Darwin became obsessed with securing power for his family. He struck a deal with the influential Cornsworth family, which allowed the Windmeres to consolidate power. Eventually, Darwin’s son, Ordan Windmere, was crowned king.

Ordan strengthened the kingdom’s wealth and influence by forming a trade agreement with the dwarves in the southern mountains, securing a steady flow of rare minerals. Under Ordan’s rule, the kingdom became richer and more stable than it had been in centuries. The Windmere family’s grip on power has become notorious, earning them the title of the Hydra Dynasty—for every Windmere who falls, another rises to take their place. To maintain their hold on the throne, the Windmeres refuse to share power with outsiders, resorting to incestuous marriages between siblings to keep the bloodline pure and the throne secure.

Ordan V is the current ruler, presiding over a kingdom that has thrived under Windmere leadership. He has three children, but whispers have spread that Ordan is infertile and that the children may not be his. This has emboldened rival families, such as the Aldrics, to quietly maneuver for a chance at the throne.

The Windmere Kingdom remains largely neutral in foreign affairs. Both the Kingdom of Almera and the kingdoms of Druecia have sought alliances, but the Windmeres prefer to remain isolated and focused on their growing wealth. The capital city is home to millions of wealthy Aasimar families, whose prosperity reflects the kingdom’s newfound strength under the Hydra Dynasty.
