Windmere Southern Mines
Dwarves in the Windmere Kingdom are treated as second-class citizens compared to the Aasimars. Long ago, the dwarves struck a seemingly fair deal with the Windmeres: they would mine valuable minerals for the kingdom in exchange for a seat on the ruling council and equal rights within the capital.
However, the reality turned out quite different. The dwarves who were elevated to the council have done little to improve the lives of those still working in the mines. Instead, they have aligned themselves with the nobility, securing their own comfort while abandoning their people to harsh conditions.
The dwarves working in the southern mines endure grueling, endless days extracting rare minerals for the kingdom’s wealth. They work under strict supervision, with few breaks and little compensation. Escape is nearly impossible. Deserters are almost always caught—and when they are, they face brutal punishment as a warning to others.
The system has left most dwarves trapped in a cycle of labor and exploitation, fueling the kingdom’s prosperity while their own communities struggle to survive. Resentment simmers beneath the surface, but with the kingdom’s tight grip on power, few dare to challenge the status quo.
