My Dearest Boy,

I raised you to live by strength and courage, as I have. But today, I speak not as a warrior, but as your father.

I have walked the warrior’s path all my life. I lived by steel, fury, and sheer will. No enemy was ever too great for the mighty Axegrinder. Even when I was beaten, bloodied, or lost those I loved, I always stood back up. Stronger. Angrier. More eager for the next fight. That never changed, not even after you were born.

I fought for you, my son.

And now, I face the greatest threat I have ever known. One the realm has not seen in generations. My hands tremble not from fear, but from excitement. This is the kind of battle I’ve lived for.

But beneath that thrill lies a deep sorrow.

I think of your mother. I think of all those lost in my endless, blood-soaked pursuit of glory. And I know. This time is different. This is not a fight I can win. In truth, I do not believe anyone can.

That is why I brought you here.

Years ago, on a journey with old companions, we discovered this ancient place. A portal unlike anything we’d seen. Myrdin believed it wasn’t dark magic, but something else entirely. A gateway bound to life, not death. I trusted his word then, and I trust it now. Wherever it leads, it will be safer than what’s to come.

I know what I’ve done will be seen as cowardice. The gods will never welcome me to the Iron Feast. I will die dishonored in their eyes. Not in glorious battle, but in choosing to save you. But I am at peace with that.

For your mother’s sake, live a life full of meaning. Help others. Be kind.

And for my sake, live with fire in your heart. Chase glory. Invite danger. Let every challenge thrill you, not break you.

I swear I will fight with every ounce of strength I have left. This enemy hasn’t seen the true wrath of Axegrinder yet. And if fate allows, wherever this portal sends you, I will find you again.

Never back down.

And you will prevail.

With all my love, Your Father, Axegrinder
