Overview
Thraine was born in the great city of Highspire, home to the Dwarves and the heart of Bloodstone production, he lived a middling and prosperous childhood. His mercenary father, Axegrinder, was a proud man full of wisdom and adventures. His mother Tora, compassionate and zealous, instilled his values and kept him rounded. Though he was a mute growing up, his parents kept him connected to the Dwarves. Thraine, always with a keen mind, memorized divine literature, arcane knowledge and myths from his parents at a very young age. Although mute, he made a living reciting texts to Dwarves following the death of his parents - his humble earning allowed him to begin tinkering with machines on the side. Unbeknownst to him, his technical and mechanical skills were even more advanced than his memorizing ability - leading his reputation to rise. At the age of 13, his muteness ended and he received employment at the Jericho Forge. There, he acquired the skills in technology that would catapult his abilities and education - from being able to differentiate minor pieces of technology to building schematics from scratch, his technical and mechanical skills were amongst the best in Highspire. His education in the Great College of Novastra got him connected with some of the most prestigious projects at the school, such as the Atlas Rail Project, the Mana Reforge Study and Via Atheris. Via Atheris gave Thraine extensive education on the construction and advanced modification of engines, both on water and for airships - his contributions with the project enabled engines for Novastra to be more durable, efficient and fast. The Atlas Rail Project, now a finished product, is a steam-and-magic-powered rail system that runs through Novastra and runs on Shiverstone. This project educated him in magic and technology intertwining, which ended up being his passion. Last, the Mana Reforge Study has been his new passion, which has turned into his main subject for his thesis as he explores the world with the Novastran Study Abroad Expedition. The study is finding a way to recharge the arcane energy that resides within the Shiverstones of the Crystalline Forest, or finding some other renewable arcane energy source.
Appearance
A rugged warrior with a commanding presence, his face framed by a thick, auburn beard braided neatly in places and matched by long, intricately braided hair. His piercing blue eyes glare with intensity, and a scar across his temple hints at a life of hard-fought battles. He wears sturdy armor adorned with leather straps and fur trim, giving him both protection and a harsh, Highspirian look.

Thraine Axegrinder is a student, engineer, artificer, and inventor born in Highspire, Druecia, though the exact date of his birth remains unknown. Raised on the streets of Highspire, Thraine survived by reciting ancient texts, magical legends, arcane lore and fragments of knowledge on the dead gods he had absorbed in his youth. His remarkable memory and unusual knowledge quickly drew the attention of the local dwarven community, earning him small opportunities and odd jobs. With time, his talents shifted from the theoretical to the mechanical. Using his modest earnings, he began tinkering with machines, and his ingenuity soon caught the eye of the renowned Jericho Forge of Highspire. Recognizing his potential, they offered him steady employment and the chance to improve his craft. Thraine’s fortunes rose further when King Gabe Stonefire himself took notice of the young dwarf’s brilliance. Under the king’s patronage, Thraine was awarded a full scholarship to the Great College of Novastra, where he was introduced to the complexities of human technology. There he joined prestigious research initiatives, including the Atlas Rail Project, the Mana Reforge Study, and Via Atheris. Now, tasked by the Great College to discover new clues to support the Mana Reforge Study under the Novastran Study Abroad Expedition, Thraine has to bring new evidence to complete his thesis and graduate for more opportunities in Novastra.
Current Activity
On a college assignment to explore the southern continent. Meets Rusty Ruddleson, a pilot in Albia. He’s found himself traveling with the people he’s met on Rusty’s ship.
