Their reign would be brought to an end by a single man’s brilliance—Linden Kruslav, the inventor of black powder weaponry. His innovations ignited a revolution that overthrew elven rule. After a grueling month-long siege of Neathshara, the elves were finally forced to capitulate. In the aftermath, the newly formed Empire assigned Steelrun—known for its fanatical anti-elf sentiment—the responsibility of overseeing Neathshara.

Since that time, little is known about what truly happens within the city. The Empire, led by Autumngrove and enforced by Steelrun, imposed strict restrictions on entry and communication. No visitors are allowed in or out. Airship pilots who dare fly over the region report the construction of vast industrial complexes and military installations surrounding the city.

The Kingdom of Novastra has repeatedly urged the Empire to lift the blockade, arguing that the elves’ magical knowledge could spark a new era of innovation and prosperity for all of Druecia. But the ruling powers have denied every request. This refusal has only fueled rumors and whispers across the Empire about what is really happening in Neathshara.

Some explorers have noted heavy ship traffic between Neathshara and Gloamhold, a recently colonized island to the north. When pressed on the matter, Steelrun’s leadership claimed that the island serves as a detention site for prisoners of the elven war, while efforts continue to “rebuild” Neathshara with the eventual goal of reintegrating it as a powerful province of the Empire.

But many doubt these claims.

Steelrun’s iron grip over the region shows no signs of loosening. Few believe they will willingly relinquish control—especially over a city still brimming with magical secrets.
