No one harbors more hatred toward elves than the people of Steelrun. Even among the most hardline and prejudiced citizens of Autumngrove, the views of the average Steelrun native are considered extreme. The city is fiercely loyal to Autumngrove and its mission to eradicate elves and eliminate magic, although many in Steelrun wish Autumngrove would pursue that goal with greater aggression.
Steelrun’s deep-rooted hatred stems from a traumatic event in its past. Long ago, the city’s defensive walls detonated in a massive explosion, leveling much of the city in an instant. In one of the few surviving reports of the incident, a witness named Gale Windreaver claimed millions perished in the blast. REDACTED
After the war with Neathshara ended and Autumngrove rose to lead the Empire, Steelrun took it upon itself to launch widespread military campaigns against other powerful magical and mythical beings. Determined to eliminate future threats, the people of Steelrun became infamous monster hunters. They hunted everything from minor magical creatures to mighty dragons.
Many of the realm’s most legendary dragon hunters hail from Steelrun, including the renowned warrior Keno, who fought in the Battle of Proteus against a horde of over one hundred dragons. In recognition of Steelrun’s brutal efficiency and unwavering loyalty, Autumngrove granted the city governance over the former elven territory of Neathshara.
Since then, Steelrun has kept its activities in Neathshara tightly guarded. Outsiders are rarely permitted entry, and only those within Steelrun and Autumngrove know what truly transpires there. Rumors abound of dark deeds and covert operations, but the truth remains locked behind Steelrun’s iron will and secrecy.
