The King summons Thraine Axegrinder, long-time resident of Highspire and now proud member of Druecia’s Finest, to mediate a troubling disturbance beneath the mountain. The tribes known as New Fat, a clan of Goliaths who dwell among the high cliffs, have begun trespassing into Highspire’s underground mines and facilities. Their actions have disrupted mining operations and desecrated sacred dwarven stonework.
Though their presence has caused unrest, the Goliaths of New Fat are not enemies by nature. They are a proud but peaceful people who speak an ancient tongue few in Highspire understand. Reports suggest their incursions are not acts of war, but of misunderstanding or perhaps desperation. Yet tensions grow, and the dwarves’ patience wears thin. The King warns that any use of force would be frowned upon, especially by allies in Faywharf, whose eyes watch closely for how Highspire handles its neighbors.
Having proven his wisdom and restraint in Cinderforge, Thraine is uniquely trusted to uncover the truth behind the Goliaths’ behavior and find a resolution that preserves both honor and peace.
